Guided by Perceptor, Optimus made his way to a Neutron Cannon around Autobot City to halt the Decepticon assault. Optimus attempted to stop the invading ground forces by providing combat support and leading the charge against their attackers. Optimus must defend the Autobot base as well as the Ark or lose any chances of survival.

The game begins with the Autobots leaving Cybertron on board the Ark.
